It’s my favorite. Did you know that?

And yes, I’m fully aware that the build up to Halloween always far surpasses the actual night of, but I just can’t help myself. From October 1 till October 30, I couldn’t be happier. I drink apple cider and decorate and watch scary movies (AMC’s Fear Fest being in my top five favorite weeks of the year) and cook anything that involves pumpkin. Confession: I have a special Ateco piping tip reserved for making mummy wrap frosting. It’s nearly useless for anything except mummy cupcakes.

So, of course, while wandering through (the new!) Target recently, I came across a black skull candle that – GET THIS – bleeds orange wax out its eyeballs. Yes.

I’ve been patiently burning it every night, waiting for the orange wax to show, but it hasn’t yet. I’ll keep you updated. Other decorations include:

But my very favorite Halloween tradition is pumpkin carving. And though I’ve lost my favorite pumpkin carving partner this year,

Cutest Roommates Contest '07!

my neighbors and I had a pumpkin carving party on our front porch, and I wasn’t denied my favorite fall pastime. The results:

I carved Frankenstein. 🙂

I’ll be in New York for the actual holiday, and I hear there’s a big Halloween parade. I’m a little hard up for costume ideas though. Anything that will fit easily into an already overflowing suitcase. Any ideas are welcome.

I have yet to carve my pumpkin. Apparently I need to get on it in order to keep up with you. Also, we must discuss your New York trip as I need to carve out some time for you in my schedule. See what I did there?
