Alllll right, y’all. Today is shaping up to be one of those not-so-good days, so I thought the best way to cheer myself up would be a blog post about my favorite moments of 2010. A fond farewell to a year that was, for the most part, totally awesome.
Then I will get off the couch, take a shower, put on my pinkest, girliest dress and go ring in 2011 in mad style.
So here it is. 2010: A retrospective.
In February, I turned 25 years old, and celebrated my quarter-century birthday with a Twin Peaks themed party. At which, my long lost Lil’est Dawg, Elizabeth, who I hadn’t seen since her move to NYC, popped out of a car trunk dressed as the Log Lady.
In March, I took a much needed vacation to Dallas to see my love Lyddy. While there, I celebrated a belated birthday, shopped, got a pedicure, ate cupcakes, danced, drank, slept and:
LOST MY IKEA VIRGINITY! I had to buy new furniture because (drum roll please):
When I got home, I would be moving out on my own for the first time, in my very own apartment! Dad even built my IKEA furniture for me. 🙂
Then after spending a weekend moving out, I came to work on Monday and got a phone call from that very attractive red head above, offering me a new job as editor of Inviting Arkansas magazine. That was a good week.
But then, tragedy struck! The last weekend in April, my new apartment flooded. I lost a few things, but poor Lula lost all her favorite toys, including the elephant (whose remains are pictured above), that she’d carried around by the trunk since the day I brought her home.
But it turned out to be ok, because in May, I found an even better apartment!
Later in May, tragedy struck again when I watched the last episode of my favorite TV show (while compulsively texting Elizabeth in NYC as she watched it at the same time).
In June, I celebrated a year of dating this guy. And by “celebrated” I mean realized at like 11:00pm that night that it had been a year. My bad, y’all.
In July, I braved the heat and attended a dinner party at P. Allen Smith’s home. I got to meet the “Martha Stewart of the South” and see his amazing home.
In September, I celebrated the second birthday of my precious Lula (just look at those lashes, would you?!).
In October, I went on a vacation to New York with this guy. To see these guys:
In order of appearance, Elizabeth, James, Jane and Shannon.
In December, I gathered the other gang and we headed to the Capital Bar and Grill to celebrate the boyfriend’s 28th birthday.
He celebrated in style / in the bow tie I got him as a birthday gift.
Cheers to all of you! Hope your 2011 is everything you hope it will be!
