Mastering the master bath

First of all, thanks to everyone who left feedback about the stencils! I’ll be sure and keep you in the know when we’ve made a decision.

But for now, I’m focusing my efforts on the master bathroom.

There she is, in all her glory. All her teeny, tiny glory.

Our main problem in this bathroom is the complete lack of storage. That medicine cabinet does not hold much, my friends. And while a sink cabinet/countertop might be on the agenda, it’s not on the agenda in the foreseeable future. It’s for this reason that we’ve dubbed this “Aaron’s bathroom,” since I will probably use the main hallway bath (it has a closet!) for all my bath-y needs.

Because this is Aaron’s bathroom, I want to give it a masculine vibe. So, irony of ironies, I’ve chosen to paint it dark grey.

(If you are LOLing to yourself, it’s because you’ve seen photos of this house and know it’s one of the only rooms in the house not painted grey.)

And even more ironic – I went to the Paint and Carpet Depot next to my office where Shirley, the eccentric-yet-world-renowned paint expert told me that if SHE were ME, she’d paint the walls dark grey AND THE CEILING LIGHT GREY.

(Now it’s my turn to LOL, considering how much un-painting-the-ceilings-grey I’ve done lately.)

Anyway, my plan is grey walls, chrome/silver hardware throughout and graphic pops of white and yellow.

So here’s where I am. Unfortunately, the only light in the bathroom is that yellowish glow from the light above the medicine cabinet, so forgive this photo.

I chose the grey on the left. It’s Behr Premium Plus in “Amazon Stone.” At first, I was a little afraid that it would seem too brown, since I’m going for modern and sleek. But a second coat covered any brownish-ness and I ended up really happy with the color.

Shirley recommended the grey on the right. It’s Pratt & Lambert, but I’m not certain of the paint name. The small, light grey stroke in the middle is what she recommended I paint the ceiling.

And even though she’s a world-renowned paint expert, I’m probably going to end up going with the grey on the left.

I’ll let you know if I have to grovel to Shirley when this is all said and done.

My eye is less than intelligent, but at first glace I thought you brought back “Hosemary.” I’m not hating either.
