Guest Bedtime!

I finally went out and got some bedding for the guest bedroom! As I’ve previously mentioned, this room will eventually be all about the curtains. I’m trying to spend as little money as possible on everything else, and reusing items we already own when possible.

So for the bedding, I have my previously owned throw pillow, which is acting as inspiration for the entire room. Then, I bought a duvet cover and shams from Target for $25 and used pillows and an old comforter to fill them. I’m loving the pattern, by the way. It’s subtle enough to not be completely overpowering, yet makes me feel like a pattern-mixing master.

The coverlet is straight off the shelf of my linen closet and the luxurious white sheets are Tahari Home from TJ Maxx, partially purchased with a gift card so I only paid $17.99 for them. Holla!

I recycled Aaron’s IKEA basketweave headboard and love how it looks with the matchstick blinds and fabrics in the room. We plan to eventually lift it up higher and connect it to the wall somehow, since it’s currently just set on the floor. I don’t have a bedskirt yet, so let me know if you see any white, inexpensive bedskirts around town. I’m on the hunt.

As for the curtains, I bought six yards of Robert Allen’s Khanjali Peacock from Cynthia East as planned. It was KINDA expensive. Like, barf-inducing expensive. And there’s a good chance I’ll need another 6 yards to make the curtains look hefty enough. More about that saga tomorrow.

What do you think of my bedding? “Look out, Sarah Richardson” or “Oh girl what were you thinking”?
