Oh, you guys. I searched and searched for Domino Quick Fixes after it came out on newsstands last week. I had almost given up hope when I came across a copy at Target today. I was so excited, I didn’t even flinch at the $11 (!) price tag.
Maybe if you’re new to Domino, Quick Fixes would be worth the high price. It’s got gorgeous photos, useful tips, etc. But for those of us who obsessed over the original, who flipped through the issues until the pages were worn, who kept every issue and even bought the book…well, to us, some of the pretty pictures might look a little familiar.
And when I say “some” I actually mean all. This “special issue” is about 90% recycled content. Conde Nast took old spreads from old issues of Domino, jazzed them up with some text, slapped an $11 price tag on it and got everyone V. excited about the Return of Domino.
They plan to release quarterly issues, but are they going to continue to rehash stuff we’ve been obsessing over for ten years? Stuff like the ubiquitous bulldog photo that everyone with a Pinterest account has seen a million times?
Fool us once, Conde Nast, shame on you. Fool us twice, shame on us. Surely you don’t take us for a bunch of idiots. We’ll see in September, I suppose.
