Wednesday Wishlist : Sarah & Brian of Westervin

I’m super excited about this week’s wishlist! Two of my college friends, Sarah Ervin and Brian West, collaborate over at the blog Westervin and may or may not (read: may) be planning their very own wedding.  You’ll die for their amazing Save the Dates. But before you do that, check out what they’re loving (besides each other! D’oh!) these days.

Tis the season of bright sun, loud music, and new adventures. Tis the season of vacations. But this year, forget summer road trips. Travel the country by train! For our honeymoon, we hope to hop on the Texas Eagle from Chicago to Austin, and we’ve picked out a few items to take with us on our travels:

1. Vintage medium format camera for documenting the fun : Ebay
2. Brian’s sweet tooth won’t permit us to go anywhere without packing a snack! This recipe for Lalo’s Famous Cookies sounds delish. :Lottie and Doof
3. Ticket to Ride board game for passing the time : Amazon
4. The greatest allowance of train travel? No need for a designated driver! Pack a liquid pick-me-up in this handmade Compass Rose Flask Set : Etsy
5. Vintage suitcase, big enough for two light packers such as ourselves : Etsy

Swinging 90s

Even though it’s unbearably hot outside right now, with temps in the 90s every day this week, I still find myself missing the porch swing we had at my old house. I’m talking four mailing addresses ago. It’s been awhile. But I loved that porch swing no matter how hot, cold or rainy it was outside.

I don’t think a porch swing is in my future at this house. Front porch is too small. Do you have a porch swing? Can I come sit in it? I’ll bring lemonade!

And you thought this day couldn’t get any hotter. ;)

I found this awhile back and put it in my purse. Why? I don’t know. It’s the Glamour Shot I had taken at McMain Mall on my 8th birthday. Somehow it ended up on my desk, where I inevitably spilled coffee on it this morning. So I forced my co-worker to scan it for me, so it would last forever via the world wide web.

Wednesday Wishlist : Christie of Roll & Tumble Press

Do y’all know Christie? She’s like…the coolest. Maybe ever. She has this Etsy shop. I don’t know, you might have heard of it, say, if you read any blogs at all. It’s called Roll & Tumble Press, and at this Etsy shop, you can buy all of Christie’s ridiculously awesome letterpress prints. You might also know her as one half of the new Hillcrest tattoo shop, Electric Heart Tattoos, which she owns with her equally talented husband Caleb.

If, by chance, you don’t know her…well, now don’t you wish you did?

1. bluer than blue typography
2. words + Wayne White = art for my den
3. a decorating dream….his and hers.
4. this lil’ beauty…beach, barbecue and bands…
5. perfect when visiting friends in Nashville, ~ yee-haw

Happy Tuesday!  Lula <3’s you.

Wednesday Wishlist : Nicole of Jim et Nicole

I’m very excited to get started with our newest feature here at Rosemary on the TV! I’ve asked a group of fellow bloggers/creators/folks about town to curate a wishlist for me that I’ll share with you every Wednesday. First up, I’ve asked Nicole of the lovely blog Jim et Nicole to share her current faves, which is perfectly fitting because her birthday is tomorrow! Be sure and wish her a happy day!  -R.

After seeing this dreamy spread on Coco + Kelley last week, I’ve been daydreaming of the perfect picnic. Here in Little Rock, my husband and I like to picnic at Knoop Park. It’s a quiet spot, just outside the downtown area with one of the best views of the skyline. We’ll sit for hours, eating, drinking and playing cards. What’s your favorite picnic spot? What do you like to pack?

1. Sienna Rose picnic basket with service for 2, $66, Picnic Fun
2. Quilt, from $104.99, West Elm
3. Picnic dress by Rachel Comey, La Garconne, $426
4. Sunnies by Karen Walker, $156, Summerland
5. Perfect cheese plate (photo via Chronicles of Naurnie)

Solving my wallpaper dilemma.

Well, I’ve figured out the solution to my to-wallpaper-or-not-to-wallpaper inner struggle. You can read more about that here.

While browsing my daily blogs yesterday, I noticed a contest on Young House Love for a gift certificate from Royal Design Studio. With one click of my mouse, the clouds parted and I heard birds chirping and an angelic chorus singing, “Aaaaaahhhhh!”

Stencils. Duh. Of course I hadn’t thought of that. They are cheaper than wallpaper, easier to apply and get rid of, have basically the same effect and I can control how in-your-face the outcome is.

We decided we’d try stenciling the long wall in the dining room. So last night, Aaron and I scoured the Royal Design Studio website and narrowed it down to five:

We played the “least favorite” game, and as most couples do, Aaron immediately eliminated my favorite (the first one), and I immediately eliminated his favorite (the last one). We were both sort of “meh” about the blue Moroccan print in the middle, which left us with Endless Circle Lattice and Large Hollywood Squares.

We aren’t completely decided either way, but we’re leaning toward Endless Circle Lattice. Then, our next decision will be of paint color. We have four options:

1. We can stencil in white over whatever color our living/dining room walls eventually become.

2. We can stencil in a lighter color of whatever our living/dining room walls eventually become.

3. We can create an accent wall in a different color and stencil in white.

4. We can create an accent wall in a different color and stencil in whatever our living/dining room walls eventually become.

My favorite example of #3 is this room, which I love:

What are your thoughts? Have you ever tried stenciling? Are accent walls totally played out?

Any and all opinions on this matter are welcome. Please and thank you.

Weekend Style : Weekend on the Town

I’ve got a full schedule this weekend and a straight up sunburn from an otherwise successful photo shoot down by the river yesterday. Sunburns can be pretty miserable, plus, I’ve got a bridal shower, concert and Mother’s Day touring of the Symphony Designer House on my agenda.
So I need a comfortable outfit to get me through the weekend.

Comfort, versatility, style? Why, yes.  I think a maxi dress and denim jacket should do the trick.

Happy Cinco de Mayo!

I’ve got a sunburn and a homemade pitcher of margaritas. Which can only mean one thing:

Happy Cinco de Mayo!

1. Eat Ancho chicken tacos with cilantro slaw and avocado cream. 2. Embellish with tin cans from the international foods section of your grocery store. 3. Wear this gorgeous dress from Anthropologie. 4. Socialize with friends under twinkling lights. 5. Indulge in margarita cupcakes! 6. Please guests with festive appetizers. 7. Experiment with different flavors of Mexican soda. 8. Play with pinatas. 9. Decorate with DIY paper flags. 10. Drink up with fresh lime margaritas.

Essie : Merino Cool

I recently made an exciting and possibly expensive revelation.

The Target that is mere blocks from my house sells Essie nail polish.

This may not be news to any of you, but I’ve been scratching my head for MONTHS wondering where I could get Essie nail polish (somewhere besides the too-far-away, expensive West Little Rock spa that sells it).  Did I ever think to check the nail polish aisle at Target? No. Never. Too easy. Too obvious.

Well, Target, that’s the last time I ever doubt you.

For my first Essie purchase, I chose “Merino Cool.”  It looks great. More grey than the picture below.  If this color were a room, it would be modern and sophisticated with a hint of playful freshness.

More to come, I’m sure.
